Mae Blwyddyn 3 yn gam pwysig ym mywyd ysgol y dysgwyr wrth iddynt symud ymlaen yn eu taith ddysgu o fewn Cwricwlwm i Gymru. Mae'r plant yn parhau i ddatblygu eu hannibyniaeth, eu hyder a'u cyfrifoldeb fel dysgwyr, gan weithio mewn amgylchedd sy'n eu hannog i feddwl yn greadigol, datrys problemau a chydweithio ag eraill.

Un o'r datblygiadau pwysicaf ym Mlwyddyn 3 yw bod y dysgwyr yn cael eu cyflwyno i'r Saesneg am y tro cyntaf yn yr ystafell ddosbarth. Rhoddir pwyslais mawr ar ddatblygu ffoneg Saesneg, gan helpu'r plant i adnabod synau, geiriau a phatrymau iaith newydd er mwyn datblygu hyder wrth ddarllen, ysgrifennu a chyfathrebu yn Saesneg.

Mae'r dysgwyr hefyd yn dechrau dilyn trefn ddosbarth fwy strwythuredig, gan eu paratoi'n raddol ar gyfer disgwyliadau diwedd Cam Cynnydd 2, yn bard am Gam Cynnydd 3. Mae hyn yn cynnwys datblygu sgiliau trefnu, gweithio'n annibynnol am gyfnodau hirach a chymryd mwy o gyfrifoldeb am eu dysgu eu hunain.

Yn ogystal â datblygu eu medrau llythrennedd a rhifedd, mae'r plant yn cael ystod eang o gyfleoedd i ddatblygu eu sgiliau digidol, creadigol a chymdeithasol ar draws pob maes dysgu a phrofiad. Fel bob amser, mae'n bwysig cofio bod pob plentyn yn datblygu ar ei gyflymder ei hun, ac rydym yn gweithio'n agos gyda phob dysgwr i sicrhau eu bod yn gwneud cynnydd ac yn cyflawni eu potensial.

Year 3 is an important stage in pupils’ school journey as they continue their learning within the Curriculum for Wales. Children further develop their independence, confidence and responsibility as learners, working in an environment that encourages creativity, problem-solving and collaboration.

One of the most significant developments in Year 3 is that learners are introduced to English for the first time in the classroom. A strong emphasis is placed on developing English phonics, helping children to recognise sounds, words and language patterns, and building their confidence in reading, writing and communicating in English.

Learners also begin to follow a more structured classroom routine, helping to prepare them for the increasing expectations of the end of Progression Step 2, ready for Progression Step 3. This includes developing organisational skills, working independently for longer periods and taking greater responsibility for their own learning.

Alongside the continued development of literacy and numeracy skills, pupils are provided with a wide range of opportunities to develop their digital, creative and social skills across all Areas of Learning and Experience. As always, it is important to remember that every child develops at their own pace, and we work closely with each learner to ensure they make progress and achieve their full potential.
